As a fourth year teacher in the SLPS district, I have been very fortunate to have great mentors, colleagues, administrators, as well as opportunities for professional development. An integral part of my development has come from the benevolence of Parsons Blewett. I was able to attend the International Literacy Association’s annual conference where I gained innumerable best practice teaching strategies and materials to use with my students. I am also a grateful recipient of a Teacher of the Year award gift from Parsons Blewett. Because of their generosity and willingness to support teachers with funding for resources and development, I am able to continually improve my teaching to benefit SLPS students.
