As a daughter of an educator from a small country in Latin America, I am proud to be part of the education of the students of the SLPS. Parson Blewett helped me to improve my educational expertise by obtaining my master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction and an additional master’s as a Math Specialist at UMSL. I currently work in the historical school of Charles Sumner High School. During my nine years teaching math at Sumner High School, I realized how important it is to be involved in the culture and community of the students I served. Many of my classes at UMSL emphasized building relations and understanding of students around each community. I believe teachers that take the opportunity of the Parson Blewett Memorial foundation can achieve their goals to keep improving their content knowledge and most importantly improve their students’ academic achievement. I will be honored to represent the Parsons Blewett Teacher-Trustee to keep embracing and resolving challenges in my classroom.
