Parsons Blewett helped me to fulfill my purpose
My name is Casetta Brown and The Parsons Blewett Memorial Fund allowed me to earn my Doctor of Education degree in Social Justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). Since July 2017, I have had the privilege of serving Saint Louis Public Schools as the Culture and Climate Coordinator. The best part of my job has been helping educators build positive relationships with their students and families, as well as coaching them to create nurturing classroom and school environments where children feel safe so that they can take risks, ask questions, and learn to trust.
I believe that part of my life’s purpose is to help Black, Brown, and marginalized students redefine what society says is possible for them. So it is with deep gratitude that I thank Parsons Blewett for helping me to fulfill my purpose by supporting me with a graduate scholarship for the last three years. This has been an absolute dream come true and I am deeply committed to helping children realize their own dreams, chart their own courses that will fuel their journeys, and redefine what society says is possible for them!
